Ivan Sutherland was born May 16th, 1938 in Hastings Nebraska. Sutherland attended MIT where he developed a primitive first computer graphics program Sketchpad. Sutherland would go on to teach at Harvard University where one of his students co-founded Pixar. For the Sketchpad program Ivan won the ACM Turing award and later the IEEE John von Neumann Medal. Another one of his inventions was the first virtual reality head mounted display system. A first step that would lead to even more impressive graphics in the future.
